“229cm Big” Taco Paul Continues to Promote in China

Paul, a 229cm giant, continues his career in China.
Reporter Shams Karania of the US local media ‘The Athletic’ reported on the 14th (Korean time), “Taco Paul (28, 229cm) with a height of 229cm will return to China to play for the Nanjing Monkey Kings.”

Paul, who made his debut with the Boston Celtics in 2019, received a lot of attention. It was because he had great physical condition with a huge height of 229 cm and a wingspan of 254 cm. However, his poor mobility and limited offensive range did not match modern basketball. He played primarily in the G League and averaged 6.1 minutes, 2.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 37 NBA games.

Paul, who was released from the Cleveland Cavaliers last year, turned to the Asian stage. Signed with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers and played for China’s CBA. Last season, he played in 33 games in a high uniform and averaged 25.7 minutes, recording 13.8 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.3 block shots. He showed off his strong height and showed that he could do well enough at the Asian level.

Since then, Paul has signed a summer league contract with the Milwaukee Bucks and expressed his willingness to return to the NBA. He participated in the 2023 NBA 2K24 Summer League in Las Vegas in July and averaged 13.1 minutes in five games with 6.4 points and 4.4 rebounds.

But NBA teams turned a blind eye to Paul. Eventually, Paul signed with Ning to continue his career in China. Last season, Nanging finished 14th out of 20 teams with a 17-25 record, failing to make the playoffs. Ahead of this season, a huge 229cm Paul was recruited to reinforce his strength and aim for a rebound.
